The Group Formación e Investigación en Traducción e Interpretación en los Servicios Públicos (FITISPos) is a multilingual group (Spanish, English, French, Arabic, Romanian, Russian and Bulgarian) dedicated to training and research in the field of Public Service Interpreting and Translation (PSIT). The starting point is a multidisciplinary approach. The group investigates multicultural topics related to ethnic minorities, in which linguistic aspects have a remarkable role. Therefore, it is closely linked to translation and interpreting (T/I).
The main goal of FITISPos is to investigate the quality and the challenges of communicating with foreign population in multilingual environments. The three fundamental pillars of FITISPos are research, training and praxis as a way of contributing to the development of the 21st century societies.
Regarding research, FITISPos studies the activity of translation from the different perspectives and models that have been proposed in Translation Studies, while paying special attention to public services and their relation with other social agents. With that purpose in mind, FITISPos regularly organizes academic conferences that serve as forums for debate and thought regarding Public Service Interpreting and Translation (PSIT). Likewise, the group is in charge of editing the online journal FITISPos International Journal, where advances on T/I, PSIT and Intercultural Communication are published.
Regarding training, FITISPos promotes and develops postgraduate programmes and continuous specialised training on T/I and PSIT. Lastly, the approach of FITISPos is a practical one, searching for the connection between investigation and the needs of the current multilingual society.
In addition, the group is always expanding its network and participating in projects at a national, international and regional scale. At a regional level, the last projects have been in Comunidad de Madrid and Castilla-La Mancha, although always willing to work with other autonomous regions.

El Grupo de Formación e Investigación en Traducción e Interpretación en los Servicios Públicos (FITISPos) es un grupo multilingüe (español, inglés, francés, árabe, rumano, ruso y búlgaro) dedicado, como su nombre indica, a la formación e investigación en Traducción e Interpretación en los Servicios Públicos (TISP). Parte de la base de la multidisciplinariedad e investiga principalmente temas de carácter multicultural, relacionados con minorías étnicas en las cuales el aspecto lingüístico tiene un papel destacado y, de ahí, su enlace con la traducción e interpretación (T/I).
FITISPos tiene por objetivo principal investigar la calidad y los retos que plantea la comunicación con población extranjera en entornos multilingües. FITISPos se basa en tres pilares fundamentales: investigación, formación y práctica, como forma de contribuir al desarrollo de las sociedades del siglo XXI.
En lo que respecta a la investigación, FITISPos estudia la actividad traslativa desde los diferentes enfoques y paradigmas que se proponen en los Estudios de Traducción, con especial énfasis en los servicios públicos y su relación con otros agentes sociales. A tal fin, FITISPos organiza regularmente congresos académicos como foro de debate y reflexión de la Traducción e Interpretación en los Servicios Públicos (TISP). Asimismo, edita la revista en línea FITISPos International Journal donde se publican los avances en T/I, TISP y Comunicación Intercultural.
En cuanto a la formación, FITISPos impulsa y desarrolla programas de posgrado y de formación continua especializados en T/I y TISP. Finalmente, FITISPos posee una orientación práctica buscando la conexión entre la investigación y las necesidades de la sociedad multilingüe actual.
Es además un grupo que está en continuo proceso de ampliación de contactos y de participación en proyectos nacionales, internacionales y regionales, principalmente estos últimos en la Comunidad de Madrid y Castilla-La Mancha, aunque siempre abierto a otras comunidades.
